On May 25, the 3rd Tai Chi Chuan Competition for International Students was held at Shanghai Sports Institute, and nearly 150 foreign students from 14 universities in the city participated in the competition. Under the guidance of Mr. Chen Hao of the Police Academy, our international students won the second prize of the group. Auli, a foreign student from Kazakhstan, and Ying-Shu Yang, a foreign student from Vietnam, won the second prize in the women's individual competition, Ai Guang-Hui, a foreign student from Madagascar, won the third prize in the men's individual competition, and Chen Chun-Mei, a foreign student from Vietnam, won the third prize in the women's individual competition.
The Tai Chi Chuan Competition is organized by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and the Shanghai European and American Association, with the aim to let international students feel the spirit and connotation of Chinese culture, strengthen their identification with and love for Chinese culture, and better serve as ambassadors of Chinese and foreign cultural exchange through Taijiquan, a traditional cultural treasure of China.
Through this competition, our international students not only showcased themselves on a higher stage, but also had a deeper understanding of the culture and connotation of taijiquan. After the tournament, Chen Chunmei, a student from Vietnam, expressed his excitement to continue learning Taijiquan so that more Vietnamese people can feel the charm of this sport with Chinese philosophy.
